Magoksa Temple Taehwasan Rest Area
충남 공주시 사곡면 마곡상가길 10-5
Magoksa is a large temple complex at the northern edge of Gongju. It is the lead temple of the sixth division of the Jogye order of Buddhism. I always see this temple along the expressway on my way south to other locations and always tell myself I am going to stop there again but I've only been once so far sadly.
It is one of the few temples I've been to with a ticket office although prices are fairly inexpensive. As such, pets are definitely not allowed on the premises. You will want to park downstream about a mile and follow the beautiful trail to the temple site. There are two main temple areas and a bridge in between them; the Northern and Southern sites. Each area has a main hall and it's own set of guardian king statues.
Leaving the temple complex, I decided to eat at this restaurant along the river. The workers there were very kind. They didn't have any menus though so I just said 'bibimbap' and they knew exactly what I wanted. They set me out at a kneeling table by the stream where I could enjoy my scrumptious meal.

I am still making plans to go back there it was so pretty.
